Tang safety or MkII?

I will have a bone to pick with Stackbarrel at Flatwater concerning an addiction I have developed regarding "quarter bores". Expect to see concrete evidence of my new found depravity!

Are we supposed to bring our .25's, too? The rules are changing and I've already been docked a few steak ounces; I want to avoid additional trimming.

I thought about bringing my quarter bore and getting lessons.

As far as I know there is no rule banning any legal guns at Flatwater. Since the "Executive Committee" is a fierce evangelizer for quarter bores, I don't see any reason not to show up with them. Shooting them at a facility insured for shotgun sports is probably another matter.

Tang safety. I think the first .250 Ruger I had was a tang safety as well, albeit a standard rifle.

This all started with reading a Varmint Hunter magazine article about a .250 AI, then I got a M700 Classic followed by the standard Ruger and then had a M700 ADL built into an AI. I realized I had duplicated my 6mm Remington, but I did have cooler looking brass and different colored ballistic tips. Oh, well.

Next I knew I had to have a Savage M99 .250 but have you seen what's happened with them? Rotten ol' Cabela's and their markups, (Steve, can I get an Amen?) they've driven up the prices something stupid :D . The Ultralight came along and it's only marginally less slick than a Mannlicher M77 or maybe a Nr. 1 Mannlicher. That'd be nice, too! Oh, yeah, somewhere in there was an FN Mauser in .250-3000. When I advertised that one on gunsamerica the eventual purchaser about blew an artery making sure he was the one who got it. It was accurate, but (sorry, Sundog) I'm not much of a Mauser guy I guess. Along with not liking Beer, I expect to lose my German heritage any day now based on that one.

We've shot just about anything there with no problems. Actually during Flatwater I there was some "full auto" shooting happening on the other side of the hill.

Wee-hoo! Back this afternoon from a week out on the east coast doing a bit of legal business with America.

I am so jazzed up that we are looking to have a record Flatwater turnout this year! I bet we have a ton o' fun!

Digger...fear not, check is on the way. I am also bringing Desert Rat to the shoot. I'm picking him up on the way Friday at KCI as he will fly in from Las Vegas. Two guys from the 16 ga board are also coming up...Ash Goodwin, who is from here in NWA, and he is picking up Charles Hammack in KC on the way up Friday.

As to my pal Steve's quote...yeah, dude! Nothing's changed. Except I am perhaps a bit more immature than last year! Gets better all the time! I did not realize what a truly worthless individual I was, until middle age set in. As the Flatwater unofficial and self-appointed Commissioner of GIGCAJ (General Immaturity, Good Cigars, Awful Jokes), I am stocking up with my secret cigs supplier and joke book. And may the Lord have mercy on our souls!

One must not be concerned with offending others at the Flatwater. It is an expected and necessary ingredient thereof.
