Can't even use the excuse that I'd been drinking.
Larry,
I believe you are right, as both stories were already legend when I arrived for the first time at Flatwater II. That all happened at the first Flatwater.

Which explains why Tiny missed it.

landed right in the middle of one of Doug's tables
I may have missed the flesh eater, but I was at Flat II (my first) and witnessed the flying snap caps. One of them hit the forearm of one of the guns on the table and put a small ding in it (I was within 15" of the impact zone). Doug was very gracious about it, but I think he even mentioned the name of his smith who could fix it.

I stand corrected. I do remember the story being told my first year. I thought it had happened the previous year.

I think I missed the first one myself.

You did. You hit the #2 gun of a pair of Purdey 20s.

Next time, I'll position myself in front of you while you're drinking, Voss. See if I can make a hole in one--or maybe both in one glass.

Mike,
This will be a Fifth of Flatwater!

Larry,
According to the pictures, you were at the first flatwater and have been at all of them since.

I have some pictures of the first Flatwater from JJE and my own pictures of all the rest. From the pix I would say that the following have been at every Flatwater shoot;

Scott (The committee) Hincker
Steve Voss
Larry Swanson
Larry Brown
Bob Egbert
Bill Layman
KGB

and of course there are a number of Larry Swanson's support staff that have made all of them.

Pics of Number 1 taken by JJE. Fortunately his camera worked better than his guns.

I missed the group shot as I was digging something out of the truck.

Walking down the course in the mud. Number 1 was wet.

Prolly broke a pump and went back for a replacement.

That must've been the shoot where JJE borrowed my Poli.

Add one to the list! Sorry I didn't recognise you with sunglasses and ear muffs Bill!

Any others? Bozer has made quite a few including the first one but I think he was AWOL at the 2006 event.

Year one was a wet one. That was the year I demonstrated that the sidelock gun with hand detachable locks is the ultimate rain gun. I broke down the Grulla, popped off the locks, had at it with the thoughtfully provided paper towels and had the gun dry, inside and out, in minutes. Awesome!!

Hey Voss,
I don't recognize Brad Bailey in the group photo. Did he miss the pic? I remember that the exploits of Voss and Bailey from year 1 were the stuff of legend! :?
