I never got to see Teddy Ballgame play, other than on TV. But I lived in DC when he managed the Senators. Some great hitters are lousy batting coaches. Ted could not only hit the ball, but could also teach the art of hitting. He turned some .230-hitting Senators into .270-.280 hitters . . . and then the owner traded away most of Ted's infield for Denny McLain.
